For the past decade, Community Spaces has helped protect, beautify and improve spaces across Western Canada. In keeping with our ongoing commitment to invest in the communities we serve, Co-op will contribute $1 million to help support projects that create spaces for everyone.

Since 2015, $13.5 million has been invested in 189 projects, including educational spaces, community gardens, recreational facilities and more. This investment includes $100,000 in 2024 to support the Virden Ag Society Barn Rebuild project. Funding is available for projects in the following three categories:

1. Recreation — providing enhanced recreation spaces in the community. 
2. Environmental conservation — preservation of natural spaces in the community.
3. Urban agriculture — small-scale community agriculture initiatives in both rural and urban spaces.

Valleyview Co-op builds on the success of the Community Spaces fund, by allocating $15,000 each year, to be distributed to some of the amazing projects within our trading area who did not receive a Community Spaces grant.
