Grow Team Review

Grow Team Review
February 10, 2022

As a producer, you’ve probably got one major issue on your mind this February. High input prices and how they will impact your profitability this growing season. Is there anything you can do other than prepare yourself for the financial loss?

Tyler Clarke is an Agronomist with Valleyview Co-op and says there are ways to sleep better at night. “2021 had dry conditions, and it was financially tough for many local producers. Coming into the 2022 growing season with high input prices is the last thing anyone wants to see, including your Grow team here at Valleyview. How we can help is by making a solid plan by reviewing your budget and coming up with some creative ideas to make better use of the dollars you have available.”

With an investment of some of your time, Curran Smith, Valleyview Agronomist, says he might be able to help reduce some of your costs. “We can sit down and see if there was an option to adjust your crop planning. Soil sampling is also an excellent way to minimize your risk and cut down fertilizer costs. Although best done in the fall, we can certainly arrange soil testing as soon as the frost is gone. You might be able to put down less fertilizer than you would in a normal year.”

Valleyview Co-op has some unique software that means you can put down the pen and paper. Come by for a coffee, and with some basics about your operation, create a plan for 2022 with optimal chances for financial success. If you are too busy to make it in, our Grow Team can come to you. 204-748-2843.
