With all the options for bulk oil storage, it can get confusing trying to decide which choice will be suitable for your operations or business. Jon Waines, Bulk Oil Products Manager at Valleyview Co-op, is here with some simple tips to help you get the best storage option for your needs.
The typical order of 1,000L – Jon recommends looking at the option of having a Co-op tote delivered and filled with Co-op premium lubricants. A refundable deposit is made, giving you long-term use of the storage unit. The customer who would benefit most from this option would be a corporate farm or an automotive repair business. Some items to consider with this option is the possibility of a gravity feed system vs purchasing an air-operated pump with hose, reel and counting meters.
Less than 1,000L orders – One of Jon’s favorite products for customers with smaller orders or a need for multiple products in a limited space is Envirostax. His more popular tank sizes would be 303L, 454L and 681L. Those units can be stacked and hold different products at the same time. Another great benefit of the Envirostax units is there come with a stand prepared for a gravity feed. Once they are filled with Co-op premium lubricants, you are ready to go.
No matter which unit you choose, Jon says there are a few essential maintenance items to keep in mind:
• Avoid the temptation to clutter or stack things on or around the tank.
• Deal with loose hose clamps or loose fittings as soon you identify them. Jon can even come to take a look if you reach out.
• Make sure your pour jugs are clean and only used for one specific product
• Keep the floor clean. Jon recommends Can Dry Supreme available at Valleyview Co-op if you have a spill.
